Back - showing quilting.

This is the back side of the cover before finishing. It measures 12.5 x 25 inches. I quilted inside each doily or circle with white thread, then did some McTavishing in the background with black thread.

My inspiration

Not knowing what I wanted to make I wandered a bit. The first thing I picked up was the file folder, loved the color and the cirles. When I spotted the card holders I knew in an instant what my project would be, just had to find a notebook to complete my mission.

My ATC organizer

As inspired by this gorgeous file folder - this quilted cover beautifies an ordinary 1" three ring binder into a lovely holder for my ATC collection. Inside are plastic sheets to keep them clean and neat, but easily enjoyed!

The cover measures 12 1/2 x 25 inches, and was made in beautiful (and windy) Coos Bay, OR

Circles

I used two circles of white and black fabric, using a method of applique using no fusible web! It involves starching the fabric until it is quite stiff, then simply sewing it to the background. It worked out quite well and I didn't have to deal with fusible web! The doilies were from the estate of a dear friend, so are a nice touch. The black fabric is a mottled black instead of a solid.

Looking at it now, I think this could have actually been kind of a neat shot if I had actually taken the time to make something of it instead of just getting it out of the way.

The timing will never be perfect. Which means I need to chase my dreams even when its imperfect.

I remembered to use this handy ruler to cut my circles for the top!
